What Does AkshiNarmis Mean?

Discover AkshiNarmis meaning, and the origin of our company's name.

A lot of people, everyone I talk to for my business, often ask “Why is your company’s name AkshiNarmis?” “What does it mean?” “What does it symbolize?”

Well, if you are also curious to know its story, read on...

To begin with, I was looking for a name that was unique, and represented the idea of this business model. Something that gave the vibe of community, power (or energy) and a much needed change in the ways of society.

Akshi had come to me by itself, felt like something powerful, particularly since it means both “eyes”, and “abode” in Hindi.

It was like we stand to bring light into the lives of the poor and needy, and develop a community that would be their home.

But “Akshi” in itself was not giving us the uniqueness we desired. Mostly because it is a common name for girls in India. This required me to search for better words symbolizing things like energy, change etc.

I came across several words in my quest, but none of them stuck me like "Narmis" did. "Narmis" stands for idealism, energy, inspiration, determination, and courage - all of which somehow related to the kind of business I had in mind.

As if it was meant to be, Narmis also happens to be the opposite of Simran (my first name). And coincidentally enough, Akshi is just one letter less of Sakshi (my second name). So it struck me to keep both the names.

And that is how I zeroed in to AkshiNarmis!
