Putush Green is a sustainable social business in New Delhi, creating aesthetically pleasing green spaces in homes and offices.

You can do good, and still build a business out of it. The only difference being in its motive! And Mr. Ashish Singh, Founder and CEO of Putush Green, leads by example. His social business in the hustle and bustle of Delhi, exists with the purpose of providing a sustainable living, by creating green spaces for you to live, work and play around.
In our recent interview with him, Ashish opened up to share insights on why his business exists, and how it is contributing to the society.
A Brief Background
The road to anything different is never easy. And such were the struggles of Ashish as he started off by selling plants on his bicycle in different localities of Delhi. He tried out Mayur Vihar, GK-I, and Green Park but something or the other would go wrong, forcing him to shift localities.
One of those days at the Green Park Market, he couldn’t manage the bicycle and it fell. Along with it fell the crate of bamboo plants in glass jars. This pushed him to change his business plan. He started working towards building a range of products, trying to identify the material to work with, and zeroed in on bamboo and coconut shells.
And this is how Putush came into being.
Putush Green
Established in 2014, Putush Green builds and offers a bouquet of solutions for green homes and workspaces. It essentially sells garden accessories, primarily made out of natural materials - bamboo and coconut shell. And apart from Delhi NCR region, Putush is now also setting up their base in Bangalore.
The products of Putush get manufactured in parts of Assam and Kerala, and the manufacturing is done by a diverse set of families. This is to ensure that money generated through the entire exercise has a distributed effect instead of getting limited to a couple of hands.
“We exist and work with the purpose of building an ecosystem that facilitates sustainable living. As of now we are at the first step. Next comes, creating a subset of the same ecosystem that will help people in two objectives. First, improving the air you breathe in your homes and workplaces. Second, one can grow consistently a substantial part of the vegetables for their need.” - Ashish Singh

Ashish believes that we are living in a time when we cherish, celebrate, and look up endearingly to consumption of all sorts. We want to eat more and everything, drink every beverage possible, wear all the clothes one could think of, consume all kind of media endlessly. A couple of decades down the line, he wants to have built an alternate story.
Through Putush, he wants to be able to create green spaces for every family. Your family can have a space for the kids to play, and to spend your weekends amidst the greenery. You can’t let the market force you to spend your weekend in a shopping mall, just because you have nowhere else to go. Putush Green will be able to create that space for you, right in your home.
Why AkshiNarmis Chose To Feature It
With its purpose of creating a means of sustainable living, Putush Green is essentially a social business. Its project has a multi-pronged impact, integrating the rural with the urban. Their products come from all the rural and semi-urban settings, but their primary market is highly urbanised areas like metro and mini-metro cities. By building this ecosystem they will be able to reach out to swathes of households across cities, creating jobs and wealth for hundreds of thousands of people along the way.
What's more? Unlike the NGOs, they are a business, which means they could earn profits and be sustainable in the long run, alongside creating an impact on the society.

As of now, Putush is profitable at the level of manufacturing and selling their products. And are working to optimize their processes in order to absorb the cost of marketing, infrastructure and prototyping different business subsets. In the long run, they may become capable to design robust processes, with right skills and adequate infrastructure, to offer their solutions, at a competitive cost, and still be profitable.
